Charles Jesse "Buffalo" Jones (January 31, 1844 - October 1, 1919), was an American frontiersman, farmer, rancher, hunter, and conservationist. As a contemporary of Buffalo Bill, Pawnee Bill and Wild Bill Hickock, he helped shape the enduring image of the mountain man, plainsman and the cowboy west. After his years as a buffalo hunter, Buffalo Jones was instrumental in gathering buffalo for preservation. His legacy includes the first presidential-awarded position of game warden in Yellowstone National Park and as "Preserver Of the American Bison" . This book "Buffalo Jones - Saving the Yellowstone Bison" chronicles the exciting events of this colorful Plainsman.
