Lost Tramways of England: Southampton

During the late 19th century the port and city of Southampton expanded rapidly and, to cater for the growing population, a network of trams grew up. Expanding until the late 1920s, the system then began its decline - albeit a reprieve during World War 2 - before bidding farewell to the last trams in December 1949. -- Cyngor Llyfrau Cymru
