Calvin Tomkins (1925-2026) was an American author and art critic for The New Yorker magazine, which he joined as a staff writer in 1960. Among his many books are Duchamp: A Biography , Off the Wall , The Bride and the Bachelors , and Living Well Is the Best Revenge . David Remnick has been editor of The New Yorker since 1998, and a staff writer since 1992.
