Angela J. Reynolds' debut novel, for middle-grade readers, takes us to a coastline in Cape Breton where there are crises on dry land and the seals in the water are much more than they seem. Terra has to navigate a family crisis involving the illness of her younger brother, which is why she is away from the family and spending the summer with friends in Cape Breton, and a remarkable discovery in the waters nearby. The tiny local museum holds a mystery, but solving it may bring trouble crashing down on Terra's head.
