The Burden of the United States of America

The Burden of the United States of America is a translation of a book published in 2018 in the Netherlands. The Dutch title is 'Mannen zijn geen Vrouwen' (Men are not Women). It's, first of all, a book for men, and what, in my opinion, is our place alongside our partners, wives, and children. The central theme in the book is a proverb from the Cherokee people: 'A woman's highest calling is to lead a man to his soul to unite him with Source. A man's highest calling is to protect a woman, so she is free to walk the earth unharmed.' The book is about why we men are what we are and how we became like that. It's a book about how Europeans took the burden of the feudal system, suppression, and humiliation with them to the New World. How those European men with that burden and the freedom they found across the ocean did whatever they pleased and shaped a new country. To the best of my belief, how the US came into being is still influencing the people of the US and people around the globe through TV, film, and media. And men are influencing women and the way they treat them. So the question is what can men do in our times when so much is changed and asked of them? Like where they stand concerning society, family, their children, and their women. With this book, I want to contribute to self-reflection in these times of significant change. I wrote this book with 'the highest calling' of men in mind. But I realized later that it is 'the highest calling' of the women what is the most important. If we men except, feel, realize, that this is true; that men can only unite with Source (is ultimate with themselves) through a woman, and thus understands the meaning of our existing, then men surely will make the earth a safe place for women and children and take care for our planet. It's that simple, and at the same time, not simple at all. And that is why I wrote this book about the burden of the US and the burden of men, who came from Europe with a burden that - if you like it or not - still affects everyday life in the US and our world. I hope this book can contribute to lifting that burden and that Europe starts with bringing more understanding and equality in our still so divided world.
